In the arena of ocean-going feats there are few records left to conquer. Circumnavigating the globe, solo and unsupported in a rowing boat, is one of them, and it is one due to be undertaken by Olly Hicks in 2012.

Aged just 23 years and 175 days at the outset, Olly Hicks rowed Miss Olive in the Virgin Atlantic Row from west to east, solo and unsupported between 27 May and 28 September 2005. His journey took 123 days 22hrs and 8 minutes and covered 6,384km (3,967 miles) from the Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey USA to St Mary's, Scilly Isles, UK.

As technology grows and brings massive shifts in the world, whether it be the economy, business, or even our personal lives the one thing future generations will be missing is it’s own identity in a world full of multiple individual identities caused by technology.
